The Bible says that we should forgive others because God forgives us. In other words, God will forgive you for whatever you have done if you ask him to forgive you.
In the same way, we should forgive others without any expectation of receiving forgiveness from them. Asking God to forgive us does not mean that we should let people get away with whatever they have done. If there is no need to forgive someone, then there is no reason to feel bad about what they have done and we don’t need to ask for forgiveness from them.
